Stay in Maison de Martin for €75 per night per couple, includes continental breakfast, private room, sheets and towels (tourist tax of €,60 per night/person). Kids stay for half price in our family room, babies free. A private room for a single person is €47/night. The upper floor has two bedrooms and one bathroom, and the lower floor has two bedrooms, dining room, and bathroom. The lower floor is reached by stone stairs up from the courtyard.
Ask about guided hikes with Martin to the Pont du Gard, a tour of the village, the amazing stone quarries, or down to the Gordon river. There are three caves in the village for wine tasting. Bikes are available for €6 to ride to the river to swim or canoe, visit the nearby villages-- including the medieval village of Castillon, made of stone perched on a hill. You could ride all the way to Uzes (50 minutes) to visit the best open air market in the world-- Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Laundry service is available for €7.
Arles (where Van Gogh did his most famous work) is a 45 minute drive away. See the summer sunflowers in bloom on the way. Did you know the Pope resided in Avignon for 70 years? Visit the luxurious Palace of the Popes. Gordes-- the suspended village overlooking Provence-- is nearby. You could go to Chateauneuf de Pape, the winery of the Popes, to find world-class wine. How about visiting the Roman stadium in Nimes? 30 minutes by car.
